Sex and the City: The Movie
Directed by Michael Patrick King.
Starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.
My name is Sarah and I watched the Sex and the City movie. Yes, I'll admit it — I saw SATC! I have never seen a single episode of the TV series, but decided to give it a shot, seeing I had a discount pass and was catching up with a female buddy. OMG, it was actually entertaining! I will explain for you naysayers...
The SATC movie follows on from the TV series and looks at what — or should I say who? — the four most fashionable ladies in New York City are currently doing in their lives. Carrie (Parker) is finally getting married to 'Big' (Chris Noth) and the stage is set for a wonderful wedding — or is it? Miranda (Nixon) is facing some rocky times with her hubby, Charlotte (Davis) has a young family and Samantha (Cattrall) is living and loving it up in Los Angeles.
I can't say too much more or else I will ruin the film for those planning to see it. However, I can say that if you are a SATC fan or are wishing to see a chick flick, you'll be happy with this film. It's very funny in a girly way and can be very tear-jerky. If you are a boyfriend or friend being dragged along to see the film, it may not be your thing — although there are poo jokes!
My only beef with this film was that I didn't really get the whole 'amazing fashion' thing that everyone has been freaking out about, especially seeing that 40-something-year-old women were doing things like wearing t-shirt dresses with the massive Supre-esque slogans. I'm sorry but Sarah Jessica Parker can't pull it off! There were some other yucky yucky fashions too. However, I have no complaints about the fantastic shoes!
I give this one 3 out of 5 reels. SATC fans may give it more.
