Oyster Farmer
An Australian drama filmed on the Hawkesbury River NSW. This film stars Kerry Armstrong, David Field, Jim Norton, Alex O’Lachlan, Diana Glenn and Jack Thompson. Oyster Farmer is about a man who runs away and ends up working on an oyster farm. He robs an armoured vehicle and posts the money to himself (up the river). However, he never receives the money, which remains a mystery until the end of the film.
The film contains humourous elements such as the dog race, a sick dog eating a remote control, the accidental disposal of the dog and the ‘bath-tub scene’. The sex scene on the jetty and the loud music throughout the film are distracting. The arrival of Jack Thompson, who plays a Vietnam veteran, raises the profile of the film. He acts superbly and maintains people’s interest. Overall Oyster Farmer is an entertaining film.
