Hot Fuzz
Starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Bill Nighy, Timothy Dalton.
Sergeant Nicholas Angel is London’s finest. With medals, honours, distinctions and an arrest successful arrest record 10 times that of any other “Police Officer”, he is virtually a super cop. But when his overachievements begin to make his slack peers look bad, he is transferred to a quirky remote country town where he is paired with an amateur — PC Danny Butterman — and becomes involved in investigating a string of mysterious deaths.
The cast behind Shaun of the Dead have finally released another brilliant film. It has action, suspense, hilarity, and somehow as with Shaun of the Dead, behind the silliness there is strangely a rather intelligent plot. The film parodies the atmosphere of those weird British country police dramas that the elderly tend to watch such as the Midsomer Murders. This makes it all the more humorous with the action-seeking characters of Angel and Butterman, are added to the environment — well played by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Many other comedic cameos feature in the film, such as Timothy Dalton, Bill Nighy and Bill Bailey. However, the film did seem to start just a tad slow to me, but picked up rather quickly.
Hot Fuzz is probably one of the most original and hilarious films to date, and will soon to join Shaun of the Dead as a cult classic — in fact I immediately wanted to see it again. If you are looking for a funny night out, get a group together and see this film, you won’t regret it.
