Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Directed by Nicholas Stoller.
Starring: Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother), Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars,
Heroes), Mila Kunis (That 70s Show).
The story is quite straight forward. Peter (Jason Segel) is an overweight, nerdy, average guy. He gets dumped by his extremely attractive primetime-TV-star girlfriend Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell). He decides to take a break to get himself together and heads off to Hawaii. Unfortunately, he finds himself at the same resort as Sarah and her new-age, celebrity, pop-star, boyfriend. Hilarity is meant to ensue.
And it kind of does. Jason Segel wrote the movie and the guy has got a decent sense of humour, and something more. This film isn't a laugh-a-minute, but there are some hilarious bits, and some well-timed nudity. As well as this, Segel unexpectedly gives a sense of warmth to almost every character we meet in the movie. By the end you even like Sarah Marshall and her nasty (and I mean this in the "dirty" sense of the word) boyfriend.
This is not a profound movie, but it's fun. Forgetting Sarah Marshall gets 3/5 stars from me for its warmth, and Jason Segel's funny bits (literally).
