30 Days of Night
Starring: Josh Hartnett, Melissa George.
The Sheriff of Barrow (Josh Harnett)
Cried one long snowy night "Oh gosh darnit!
Our town's over-run
by some bloodsucking scum"
I was going to finish this poem but thought "Oh f**k it"...
…because I was so bored during this film that I wouldn't want to waste any more thought-power on it and indeed I want to write to the film maker and insist that I get the lost two hours of my life back. Despite some slick and striking visuals and fake blood galore, the acting was as blank and lifeless as the snow that dominated the scenery, and I wasn't made to care about any of the characters at all so watching them get ambushed and slaughtered by the (over-the-top, one-dimensional) vampires was really just a chore. The film had a lot of things that I thought I would like (interesting premise, based on a graphic novel, contains vampires) but it just turned into an overblown yawn-fest. I know this isn't even a proper review (and may not even reach the esteemed pages of Reelbuzz, dear reader, due to our Editor's unfathomable liking of this film) but I figure if you want a plot summary, character descriptions (and coherent analysis) then go look it up on that interweb thingy — to me this clichéd and tiresome movie is worthy only of a hasty and disgruntled rant such as this. Oooh burn.
