What is the Film Society?

Your society, dedicated to increasing enjoyment, knowledge and viewing of films. We screen films in the Union Cinema during the academic year, as well as organizing social events and free film screenings at other cinemas (supported by Palace Nova Eastend Cinemas).

For $10 you get:

Do I have to be a student?

No. Anybody can join the Adelaide University Film Society. However, if you are not a student of Adelaide University, you must also join the Adelaide University Clubs' Association, which costs a further $5.

What social events are there?

AUFS Discussion List

The Adelaide University Film Society maintains a lively discussion list where people can rationally discuss or incoherently rant about their most (or least) favourite films.

The AUFS Discussion List is open to everyone, even people who are not AUFS members.

Only discussion list members can post messages to the AUFS Discussion list, so if you want a message to reach the list, you MUST post using the address which you subscribed under, not any other address. The AUFS Discussion list has a limit of 25K for each posted message. These safeguards limit viruses and spam from infecting the list.

To join the AUFS Discussion List, check out http://server.ross.net/mailman/listinfo/aufs-discussion and follow the instructions therein.

Once you are subscribed you can send a message to

discussion_aufs_org

This is the address of the discussion list, and is where you should send messages which you wish to post to the list. Messages sent to this address will be sent to all subscribers to the list. It is also the address which messages will be sent to if you use the Reply function in your e-mail software to reply to a message posted on the list.

Before posting any message to the list, read the discussion list policy.

General information about the mailing list is at:

http://server.ross.net/mailman/listinfo/aufs-discussion

If you ever want to unsubscribe or change your options (eg, switch to or from digest mode, change your password, etc.), visit your subscription page at:

http://server.ross.net/mailman/options/aufs-discussion/yourname%40yourdomain.com

You can also make such adjustments via email by sending a message to:

aufs-discussion-request_aufs_org

with the word 'help' in the subject or body (don't include the quotes), and you will get back a message with instructions.

You must know your password to change your options (including changing the password, itself) or to unsubscribe.

Normally, Mailman will remind you of your aufs.org mailing list passwords once every month, although you can disable this if you prefer. This reminder will also include instructions on how to unsubscribe or change your account options. There is also a button on your options page that will email your current password to you.
